Recapping Moore County sports from over the weekend:

Last Tuesday evening the Dumas Demonnette varsity volleyball team beat the Canyon Lady Eagles 3-1 to take sole possession of second place in district. Then on Saturday they shut out Borger 3 to 0.

The Demons football team had and easy night, defeating Roswell, NM in a shut out 53 to nothing. Sunray also scored often has the Bobcats down Booker 54 to 15.


A 3.4 million dollar project for fiber optic internet in Dumas was approved by the city commission, according to the weekend edition of the Moore County News Press. The deal is with Plains Internet from Amarillo. 1,7 million dollars of the project gets paid now, and the rest ten days after the city receives it. The entire project is paid for with federal funding from the Covid-19 American rescue plan funds.

Every home and business will have access to the internet service.
