More details today on the major semi crash on Route 287 near Stratford. The Cactus Fire Department assisted with the fire, caused when two semi trucks collided.

According to the Sherman County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around six miles south of Stratford in the northbound lane of US 287.

Both semi- truck drivers are hospitalized, one driver is in critical condition.

The DPS says one semi-truck was parked on the shoulder of the road when, for unknown reasons, another semi crashed into it. Both semi-trucks caught fire and the drivers were able to escape.

Stratford Fire and Stratford EMS were paged out and assisted by Stratford Sheriff Office, State troopers, TX DOT, Cactus Fire and Buckles for bringing loaders to clear

Moore County Emergency Management addressed questions about the tornado sirens in Dumas. Several in Dumas that did not activate, are being worked on. They are outdoor warning systems and not designed to be heard inside of a building or house. To accomplish that the county would have to have a lot more sirens and they are very expensive.
