Xcel Energy said it expects reliable service across its Texas-New Mexico service area through the summer heat, because of “investments in generating capacity and targeted grid improvements.”

To help prevent common heat-related issues day-to-day in the summer, Xcel Energy advised that customers be careful to avoid a lot of high-energy chores in the late afternoon on extremely hot days, and gradually lower their thermostats after coming home from work.

Moore County Crime Stoppers honors local law enforcement officers each month by selecting an officer of the month. Each month, the Board of Crime Stoppers randomly selects a local Law Enforcement Officer from one of 5 local agencies in Moore County to be the Officer of the Month.

The Officer of the month for May 2021 is Chief of Police Keith Quirk with Dumas ISD Police Department. Chief Quirk has been in law enforcement for 6 years and graduated from the Amarillo Police Department Academy.

After being shutdown for 15 months, because of Covid 19, The Evelyn in Dumas is set to re-open tonight at 7:00 p.m. with The Quiet Place Part 2 (PG-13) and Mortal Combat (R). Going forward the theater will be open every evening at 7:00 p.m. and will have one showing nightly on both screens. The Evelyn will turn 75 years old on January 1, 2022
