Another semi truck fire on Route 287 occurred again yesterday. Traffic reopened on US 287 near the Canadian River, following a semi fire, involving hay bales.

Southbound traffic was diverted to the 1913 and 354 exits. Traffic was delayed for several hours.

Multiple airports throughout the Texas Panhandle were awarded federal grants totaling $425,000 to help combat the spread of COVID-19, according to US Senator John Cornyn.

According to an email from his office, the money is being provided through the Coronavirus Relief and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2020, which the Texas Senator voted for in December.

Moore County Crime Stoppers honors our local law enforcement officers by having an officer of the month. Each month, the Board of Crime Stoppers will randomly select a local Law Enforcement Officer from one of our 5 agencies in Moore County to be the Officer of the Month. They then post the officer of the month info on our Facebook page and website.

Our officer for the month of May is Chief of Police Keith Quirk with Dumas ISD Police Department. Chief Quirk has been in law enforcement for 6 years. He graduated from the Amarillo Police Department Academy.
