The Dumas City Commission heard an update on the building and restaurant remodel at Pheasant Hills Golf Course. The positive news is that the golf side is on the upswing with memberships up 50%, and tournamemts booked throughout the summer.

The remodeling of the restaurant has hit several snags involving concrete, plumbing, and tunnels underneath the building, that will have to be filled in. The cost overruns are not in the city’s budget, and the project completion is at a stand still.


Various media outlets report the death of a Dumas women in a car accident Monday. Two passengers died, and the driver was seriously injured following a traffic accident in Hartley County.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), 34-year-old Lliana Sauceda, 34, of Dumas, and Lucio Quezada-Hernandez, 28, of Dalhart, were pronounced dead at the scene by Hartley County Justice of the Peace Beth Moore. Both were passengers in a 2008 Chevrolet Colorado driven by 31-year-old Jose Munoz of Dalhart.
Police said Munoz had been drinking prior to the crash.

Neither the driver nor the two passengers were wearing their seat belts.

The DPS report says the unsecured occupants were ejected from the vehicle. The vehicle came to a rest in the field facing south on its wheels.


Lake Meredith National Recreation Area is set to host the first of three “Movies on the Lake” events this year starting on Saturday, June 19, according to a news release from the National Park Service.

Located at the Fritch Fortress Amphitheater in Lake Meredith, these upcoming events are part of the “Evening Program Series”

The movies that are showing are free to the public through the end of July.  The movie this weekend is Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 9:30 p.m. — “Godzilla vs. Kong”
