You could watch the Dumas Demons football games on TV again this year. The University Interscholastic League will move forward with allowing the online streaming of Friday night football games for the 2021 season.

The proposal from the UIL policy committee was approved by the legislative council on Tuesday afternoon. The rule was suspended last year due to COVID-19 and limited stadium capacities for fans. In their discussion Policy Committee chair Aaron Hood said they surveyed Texas school districts and a majority of the returns showed to be in favor of dropping the rule.


Dumas and Moore County remain a hotbed for needed home, and apartment rentals, and housing in general. There is discussions on the situation getting better, with some new housing the horizon.


Amarillo College announced it has received a gift of $15 million from author and philanthropist MacKenzie Scott.
The gift is the largest in the history of Amarillo College and constitutes one of the largest single disbursements of a gift in the history of the community.

Scott, who is on Forbes’ 2021 list of the world’s wealthiest women, has in recent months gifted billions of dollars to nonprofits and charities, including hundreds of millions for historically black colleges and universities and community colleges.
