Resurfacing will begin on Dumas Avenue next week. According to TxDot and the Moore County News Press, equipment will arrive after the holiday weekend, and construction will last three to four weeks. The new surface is expected to last three to four years, holding up better with all the daily traffic. If you travel Dumas Avenue during the different phases of the project, expect major delays.


The Dumas Fire Department reminds residents that fireworks are prohibited and illegal within the City of Dumas city limits. You can face fines up to $2000.00 for using or possessing open fireworks in the city limits. Although you can legally purchase them in unincorporated areas of Moore County they are illegal to pop in the City Limits and must be popped outside the city limits of Dumas!


Moore County Crime Stoppers honors our local law enforcement officers by having an officer of the month. Each month, the Board of Crime Stoppers randomly selects a local Law Enforcement Officer from one of their 5 agencies in Moore County to be the Officer of the Month.

The officer for the month of July is Detective Mac Fields with the Dumas Police Department. Detective Fields has been in law enforcement since August of 1999. He graduated from the South Plains Association of Governments Regional Law Enforcement Academy.
