A slow-speed chase involving an 18-wheeler has come to a stop north of Amarillo early Wednesday afternoon, as it headed towards Dumas.

The Amarillo Police Department, the Potter County Sheriff’s Office, and the Department of Public Safety we’re involved in the stop, with the 18-wheeler appearing to be pulling a cattle trailer.

The driver faces three charges after accused of being involved in the hour long chase. Ulyssas Solis has been charged for possession of a controlled substance, evading arrest and detention, and a felony warrant for violation of parole.
He’s been booked into the Potter County Jail.

Moore County Public Health Authority is reporting 41 active cases in Moore County as of yesterday. Moore County Hospital District is reporting on person admitted in the hospital for COVID right now.

Quarantined hospital staff members are also contributing to a staffing issue facing our hospitals.

Hospitals are asking if there were any current plans to reinstate the staffing assistance that had been previously available.

Nursing resources across the region are being taxed- especially after the departure of the Regional Advisory Council (RAC) state support we had a few months back.
