Moore County now shows another new victim of Covid-19. My High Plains reports that a 78th person has died locally from the virus.

The Amarillo Public Health Department is reporting 202 new cases of COVID-19, 5 deaths, and 299 recoveries in the Amarillo area.

APH said Potter County has 93 new cases, three deaths, and 148 recoveries.

In Randall County, 109 new cases were reported along with two deaths and 151 recoveries.

The Area Hospitalization Rate stands at 15.41%.

The HVAC and Electrical Technology classes at Spearman High School recently hosted a guest speaker from Valero McKee Refinery in Dumas.

Tanner Baird has worked at Valero for two years as a Safety Engineer. He spoke to the students about the National Electric Code (NEC) and how the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is law in his industry. He also brought several types of personal protection equipment (PPE) which the students were able to try out. Another topic of discussion during his visit was the National Fire Protection Agency.

He showed the students several pieces of electrical equipment used in lockout/tag out (LOTO). He answered questions from the students concerning jobs within the industry, as well.
